Ethel Washington et. al. v. Michael Olsen and the City of Austin

As one of the most respected lawyers handling police misconduct cases, it was not surprising that when an Austin police officer shot a young African-American in the back, the young man’s family and attorneys they initially hired to prosecute the case sought to retain Jeff.  After deciding that the force was unreasonable, Jeff engaged the best experts, learned the details behind the shooting, and most importantly, came to learn of the tremendous impact the young man had on his family.  By preparing the case so thoroughly and making sure the jury would come to know the real person who had been killed and not the media’s depiction, Jeff was able to successfully resolve the case at mediation.   A link to the article announcing the settlement to the young man’s parents.  Partly as a result of this settlement, Jeff was named a life member of the Million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, one of the nation’s most prestigious groups of trial lawyers.

Far more significantly, Ethel Washington, the dignified mother of the young man who was killed, remains a friend to this day and has recommended the firm to several colleagues.  According to Ethel, [Jeff] “took my case with high expectations and he proved to be an excellent lawyer.  He cares about his clients.  Jeff is the best!”
